The main goal of the pilot project is to assess the possible economic effect of using data analysis of the technical process.
The productivity of the entire production line and the unit cost was selected as the main performance metrics in agreement with the management of the enterprise. Thus, the two main objectives of the project are:
- Find out the possibilities for increasing productivity
- Identify reserves to reduce the cost of production
At the same time, the customer has set the conditions of our work:
- The risk of accidents at work should not increase
- The quality of the products must remain within the specified limits
- Lack of capital investments in equipment
Proposed solution
Analyze technological and economic data on the technological process over the past 5 years. To see how various parameters of raw materials, process modes and external conditions affect the efficiency of the technological process. Based on the analysis, find conditions for maximizing productivity and minimizing cost.
What was done
The analysis was carried out according to the standard Cogintech methodology:
- In-depth study of the technical process together with the customer's technical staff
- Analysis of the digital binding of the technological process and the structure of technological data
- Building a digital twin
- Analysis of accumulated data and output of the "Best day" formula
- Assessment of the economic effect
Results
- A digital twin of the process technology has been built
- The dependence of the efficiency criteria on the modes of the technological process and the quality of raw materials is revealed
- As a result of the initial analysis of data on the cleaning process, a "Best day" recommendation system was created to manage the process modes with the greatest efficiency
- A table of the most efficient work in the past periods was created for the entire range of raw materials used. This table is already used in the current work to configure the process
- An analysis of past periods for efficiency showed that the efficiency of the process increased every year, however, there is still a significant potential to increase it by at least 8%
- Cost reduction only due to increased productivity is estimated at 2%.
- Following the recommendations will ensure a reduction in the amount of solvent used by an average of 3%, which will lead to significant savings in electrical and thermal energy and, consequently, to an additional reduction in cost
